iRobot at HubWeek

HubWeek is an annual Boston event that brings together innovators from every industry — a “giant petri dish” welcoming artists, academics, entrepreneurs, researchers, executives, and makers. iRobot wanted a meaningful presence at HubWeek with a presentation that genuinely represented its place in the future of home technology, and called on Stagedge to assist with several customer-facing activations.

The challenge

Stagedge has worked with iRobot since 2007 as their production AV partner. Our ability to function as an extension of their internal team for more than a decade, paired with our commitment to excellence, prompted iRobot to bring us in for this fast-moving project. The vision was clear; together we defined exactly what it would mean in production terms.

The Stagedge solution

Beginning with a design the iRobot team created from existing trade-show booth assets, we built a set for a live stage presentation highlighting the features of the new iRobot i7 and its role in the Smart Home of the Future. The iRobot team wrote the script and worked with us to design the space. A large LED screen, multiple monitors, an array of PA speakers and cameras, and various smart-home devices were carefully placed and calibrated to help the audience visualize how powerful and integrated today’s technology can be. Behind the scenes, our producer and audio, video, and lighting engineers orchestrated the devices in concert with a Stagedge-provided actor who honestly and compellingly shared the iRobot story to enthusiastic audiences.

The outcome

Despite the venue challenges of a week-long event in a tent on Boston City Hall Plaza, the iRobot presentation area was a major success. Every hour of every day for a week, audiences gathered to engage with the iRobot brand, connecting the company with the newest cutting-edge technology available. iRobot management’s feedback said it best: “This is exactly what I had hoped it would be.”
