Analog Devices originally engaged Stagedge to support the 40th annual in-person General Technical Conference. With global health concerns rising in early spring 2020, ADI and Stagedge collaborated to transform the live event into a virtual broadcast — and reached more people than ever before.
The challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the planning of every live event in early 2020. ADI’s growing General Technical Conference needed to move critical communications programming from in-person sessions to a virtual format closer to a television broadcast. The experience had to be easy to access, reliably executed, and genuinely interactive between presenters and a remote audience. The plan called for a custom-branded webpage rich with video-on-demand training and links to deeper learning tools.
The Stagedge solution
Our nationwide network of partners, video producers, web developers, and production team collaborated directly with ADI to set a clear vision, build an aggressive project plan, and execute the virtual event. Through disciplined project management tools and on-demand access to our virtual event experts, the ADI team gave real-time feedback throughout website development. ADI’s senior leaders were welcomed onto our socially distanced, carefully sterilized event stage, where our production team and video producers helped them deliver engaging presentations to multiple HD cameras.
The outcome
Over two days, keynotes were delivered from Stagedge’s virtual main stage, with attendees invited to submit live questions. Eighteen interactive workshops were simulcast, letting attendees pick, choose, and even toggle between breakout sessions. Award recipients were recognized live on tape, and papers and demos were pre-recorded and available on demand while entertainment and announcements aired during breaks.
Going virtual let ADI offer the GTC to a far wider audience. The 2020 edition reached 5,000 attendees — double the previous year’s peak — was viewed in 31 countries, and generated 14,000 video views of live content. With on-demand content still available, the show’s impact continues well beyond the broadcast.
Analog Devices has relied on Stagedge for our worldwide general technical conference for 40 years. While their support and creativity have always been phenomenal, this year they outdid themselves.
